Hi all,

I've downloaded madwifi 0.9.2 and my card works fine. But when I execute:
iwpriv ath0 I get the response:
atho no private ioctls.

Can anyone help me? I would like to be able to change between a/b/g modes.

Thanks.

Xavi.

Make sure that your distribution does not rename the interface that
originally was named "wifi0" to "ath0". If you're not sure about that,
please show us the output of "ifconfig ath0".

Bye, Mike

The output of "ifconfig ath0" is:

***@deop:/home/xavi# ifconfig ath0

Hi, what I wanted to point out in my initial post is (as you see executing
these commands):

***@deop:/home/xavi# ifconfig ath0
ath0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:0F:3D:AF:BB:D1
inet addr:10.3.86.73 Bcast:10.3.86.127 Mask:255.255.255.192
UP BROADCAST NOTRAILERS RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:631 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:481 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
RX bytes:180020 (175.8 Kb) TX bytes:78107 (76.2 Kb)

***@deop:/home/xavi# iwpriv ath0
ath0 no private ioctls

Therefore, I can't change nor see the working mode of my card, nor any other
options of the iwpriv command.

Any way to resolve this problem?

Thanks.

iwpriv is neither needed nor working in order to change the working mode
of your card. See also: http://madwifi.org/wiki/UserDocs/ChangingMode

I can't tell why iwpriv claims that ath0 has no support for private
ioctls. Can you please post the version information that the MadWifi
modules print to the system logs when they are loaded? You should find
them in the output of the dmesg command, for example.

The only (weak) idea that is left on my side now is to try v0.9.2.
